The Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) is the only international show dedicated to the world of superyachts.
Inaugurated in 1991, the show is held over four days in late September in the Port Hercule of Monaco.
SUPERYACHT TRENDS*
- Yacht owners are getting younger and younger... and that there is an increase in the number of new clients and newcomers to the market.
- Very young customers and Millennials do not make up a large percentage of the yacht customer base... Although all builders and designers are anticipating the new demographic age in the near future.
- In multi-generational families introduced to the yachting culture, the "grandfather" is now paying close attention to his adult children and grandchildren with regard to their vision of yachting and sustainability.
- Sustainability: it's the buzzword of the moment among builders and designers, of course... But it is not only about propulsion solutions or hull shapes, but also about interior design, environmentally friendly materials, etc.
- Construction: this is a long process (3-5 years) that involves a strong personal commitment to follow the project from the very first phase of start-up. There is also a lot of uncertainty today about rising costs and the availability of materials.
- Charter and experiential charter: the charter market has exploded... Many unavailabilities to meet growing demand explained by the YOLO trend (post-pandemic mentality, You Only Live Once).
- Charter periods are longer (2/3 weeks) as clients can work remotely.

The 2023 Monaco Yacht Show was a hive of activity as over 27,000 prospective clients and industry players attended the iconic port Hercule to explore a fleet of outstanding superyachts and meet +550 exhibitors showing off their products and services.
